13 Weeks Pregnant

Phew, Mom is now 13 weeks pregnant. If this is a hockey match, the first intermission is over and it’s time to start the second period. Here’s what’s going on with you, your partner and your baby, along with some tips to avoid time in the penalty box.

What Can You Expect?

  • Dad at 13 Weeks (Tips and What you Should be Doing)

Baby at 13 Weeks Pregnant

His hands can now make fists. One step closer to a future heavyweight champion.

Cue the theme from Rocky.

Additionally, your baby is developing thumbs and can start sucking them. You’ve got a little human growing inside your wife (think about that, it’s crazy)…only with a ginormous head. But, his body is starting to catch up to his head in weight and length.

There certainly are some perks of the second trimester.

Morning sickness should be done (or will be soon), and you can start focusing on your diet again. Stay healthy. Eat lots of fruits, veggies, lean protein, etc.

The best part of the second trimester is that your partner may rediscover her sex drive. Encourage her to scratch that itch.

After a particularly good romp in the hay, you may capitalize on her good mood and try out some of the potential baby names she vetoed a few weeks ago when she was feeling lousy…it’s worth a try!

Pregnancy Tips for Dad at 13 Weeks

Your partner may not look pregnant, but keep remind yourself that she is.

This. Is. Happening.

Start putting together a budget. Diapers don’t buy themselves.

If there’s any room left in the budget, put a mini-vacation together, more commonly known as a “babymoon”. This can be somewhere relatively close where you can drive, but it’s still safe for her to fly.

The second trimester is the best time for this before she’s no longer able to travel (or hold her pee for very long).
