You’re ⅝ of the way there, 25 weeks pregnant to be exact. Or, roughly the time in a movie when you really have to go to the bathroom because you sprung for the large Coke at the concession stand. Here’s what you need to know so you won’t miss any part of your baby’s story.

Baby at 25 Weeks Pregnant
This week your baby weighs around 23 ounces, which is the equivalent of 5 D batteries (for those of you who grew up in the boombox era).
His spine is starting to develop, and blood vessels are now working in his brain. In addition, baby’s lungs and nostrils are beginning to open and his hands are fully developed.
It really makes you wonder what you’d be capable of if you really applied yourself.

Her uterus is now about the size of a soccer ball. For a frame of reference, an average, non-pregnant uterus is about the size of your wife’s fist, or the size of an orange. By week 40 it will be the size of a watermelon. For real.
The skin on her belly is being stretched pretty quickly and may be itchy. Start an evening routine of putting lotion on her. She may start to experience Braxton Hicks (practice contractions) around this week.
After reading that last paragraph, you probably are considering Braxton as a first name. It’s a good name, much better than Hicks.

Has she started a baby registry yet? Don’t let her have all the fun. If you’re registering at a place like Target or BuyBuy Baby, demand to use the laser gun that shoots the barcodes.
When she’s not looking, hit up the beer aisle at Target. This Bud’s for you.
You don’t need ALL the stuff/gear. Compare notes with dads who are a few years down the road from you and decide if your baby really needs a wipe warmer (hint: he doesn’t).
Don’t wait to get a car seat. Decide which one you want and either buy it yourself or ask either of your parents to pony up. You’ll need to get cracking on the install.
