22 Weeks Pregnant

Mom is 22 weeks pregnant and you’re past the midway point! Here is where things kick it up a notch.

What Can You Expect?

Baby at 22 Weeks Pregnant

At 22 weeks pregnant your baby can now tell the difference between light and dark. Don’t let him go to the dark side.

Baby has hair on his head. Will it be the same color as yours? Unfortunately, ultrasound technology isn’t that advanced (and newborns’ hair color often changes after they’re born).

He is close to a pound in weight (the equivalent of 2 adult hamsters) and over 11 inches long.

Mom at 22 Weeks Pregnant

Although this period of the pregnancy is a relative sweet spot, she may start to have leg cramps and lower backaches.

In addition, she may start to get stretch marks. This is not the same thing as skid marks. By the end of the day her feet and ankles might be swollen and varicose veins may start to appear on her legs.

You probably won’t be shocked to learn pregnancy doesn’t do any favors for her body.

Second half. Don’t drop the ball. Keep being supportive and remember you can do this.

Pregnancy Tips for Dad at 22 Weeks

At 22 weeks pregnant, Mom probably has some aches to go with her glow.

Offer to give her a massage. Get out the lotion and let your hands do the talking.

And while you’re up for future dad of the year…plan that babymoon. If you plan on flying, airlines will allow her to fly until she’s 8 months pregnant. Or find a closer destination (far enough to get away, but close enough for one tank of gas).

You should now play the role of baby bump bouncer when strangers (or friends) try to touch her belly. No means no, people.
